CAHS senior Lera Doederlein is headed to compete in the Beijing Paralympics, becoming Team USA’s youngest athlete to compete in Paranordic skiing. Doederlein was born with a birth defect, arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, a severe condition that affects the joints in her legs. When she grew into her teenage years, she had been told she would have increased restricted mobility. Lera made the difficult decision to amputate both legs above the knee at 14 years old. Soon after this, Lera was introduced to adaptive sports and is now a multi-sport adaptive athlete.
