Special Education Prepares Students for College and Career

December 9, 2021

The Transition Partnership Program (TPP) is a collaborative program between The Classical Academies Special Education Department and the Department of Rehabilitation. Students in this program are supported with various skills as they approach graduation and transition to adult living. They learn to develop self-awareness, self-advocacy, understand their legal rights, research employment, and understand and prepare for continuing education options.

Students are assisted with transitioning to direct services with DOR vocational counselors if additional support services are needed after high school graduation. The TTP offers support for students who are participating in paid and unpaid work experiences, preparing them to be contributing and skilled employees. Nearly 100 students have participated in employment experiences in retail sales, food service, automotive industry, reception, customer service, coaching, etc.

These Special Education students graduate with tangible resources, including an employment portfolio that contains a resume, cover letter, and letters of recommendation, better preparing them for workforce development, college, and/or career.
